There are a multitude of different risk factors for workplace injuries. One risk factor for an increased likelihood of injury is working after an extended break such as coming into work on a Monday after a few days off. It has been statistically shown that a worker is more likely to be injured on a Monday.
There can be a multitude of possibilities to why more injuries occur on the first day back to work. Lack of focus or attention could be one reason why someone is more likely to fall victim to an injury on their first day back to work. Some other possibilities to consider:
Mondays are known for individuals having lower energy levels and sometimes lower morale. We have all heard someone jokingly say they have “a case of the Mondays”. This can lead to caring less about the task at hand or not taking the time to take the extra steps to work safely.
It is well-known that the cleanliness of a store has a direct impact on customers’ footfall and subsequent sales.
In a recent study it was revealed that a group of consumers said they would stop visiting a store that was not as clean as they would like, and they would only visit the store to pick up a few items they could not find elsewhere.
The report found that customers paid the most attention to the cleanliness of the places like food stores and chemists.
Moreover, the cleanliness of your store environment is a reflection of your business and brand, so it’s important to make a good impression.
The next quarterly OHS meeting will be held on the 17th of February 2021 using Microsoft Teams run by Louie with AM Retail managers and employee representatives. There were no lost time injuries in December 2020 and no environmental incidents and no fines from regulators.
